A Journey Down Memory Lane Organizing the College Symposium

From Idea to Reality

In the vibrant corridors of my college, two years ago marked a pivotal moment—a moment when the seed of an idea blossomed into a grand symposium, showcasing the amalgamation of intellect and creativity. It was a time when my classmates and I decided to embark on a journey that would not only test our organizational skills but also create lasting memories.

Gaining Trust and Seeking Permission

As the academic torchbearer of my class, I found myself standing at the crossroads of responsibility and opportunity. The Head of the Department, recognizing my prowess in academics and extracurricular activities, entrusted me with a unique task—to seek permission for a symposium. The challenge was accepted, and I approached the HOD with a vision in mind.

Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” - Stephen R. Covey

The Blueprint of Events

With the green light from the HOD, my mind transformed into a canvas of possibilities. I meticulously planned eight events that would cater to the diverse interests of my fellow students—four technical and four non-technical.

  1. The SlideShow (Paper Presentation)
  2. Tech Thoughts (Project/ Idea Presentation)
  3. Quizzy McQuizface (A Technical Quiz Contest)
  4. On the Mic (A Elocution Competition)
  5. LensMan (Photgraphy Competition)
  6. Ad-Wiz (An Advertisement making contest)
  7. Poster Master (A poster Design contest)
  8. Meme Battle (Meme Creation Competition)

Bringing Ideas to Life

Creating a symphony of events required more than just ideas; it demanded execution. Armed with enthusiasm, I designed captivating posters for the overall symposium and each specific event. A dedicated website became the virtual hub, connecting participants to the plethora of opportunities awaiting them.

The Team Behind the Scenes

A symposium is not a one-person show. Recognizing this, I assembled a team of 32 individuals, each responsible for orchestrating one of the eight events. These enthusiastic minds breathed life into the symposium, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish.

Triumphs and Tribulations

As registrations poured in from 400 eager participants, the anticipation reached a crescendo. However, the post-event reality brought unexpected challenges. The discovery of dishonest practices in announcing winners tested my resolve. Undeterred, I rectified the discrepancies, upholding the integrity of the competition.

Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. - C.S. Lewis

Nostalgia in the Present

Now, as I navigate the currents of my professional life, the memories of those spirited days linger. The faces, the laughter, the shared victories and defeats—all etched in the corridors of time. The symposium was not just an event; it was a chapter that shaped friendships and left an indelible mark.

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. - Dr. Seuss

In the realm of work, I find myself reminiscing about those moments and the remarkable people who made the symposium a tapestry of fond memories. The journey may be in the past, but its echoes continue to resonate, reminding me that the symphony of life is composed of countless interconnected notes.
